In the United States a sportsbook or a race and sports book (sometimes abbreviated as book) is a place where a gambler can wager on various sports competitions, including golf, football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, horse racing, greyhound racing, boxing, and mixed martial arts. A horse who does not win but finishes second or third (or fourth, depending on the type of race and number of runners).

A Tote bet with similar rules to the Jackpot, but your selections, in the first six races at the specified meeting, have only to be placed. The minimum stake is £2.

A player prop bet is a wager on an individual player to do something during a game. For example, which player will score first in a football game?

Point Spread
The goal or points advantage a bookmaker gives to a team before the match starts.

Push

For example, New England Patriots are favored by 14 points against the New York Jets. If they win by exactly 14 points, the wager pushes and the bettor gets their original wager back.
